Social media has become a popular platform for beauty enthusiasts to share latest makeup and skincare tips and tricks. TikTok and Instagram beauty trends range from innovative skincare routines and makeup tutorials to haircare regimes. However, experts recommend approaching these trends with caution as a lot of them are nothing, but hoaxes.
At the same time, there are some viral beauty trends that might actually work! Sharing some of these, Dr Geetika Mittal Gupta, a dermatologist, took to Instagram to share five TikTok beauty ideas that can work wonders for your skin. “Ready to get in on the TikTok craze? Here are the top five trends you should try!” she captioned the post.
Under-eye coffee patches: If you are thinking of getting coffee patches for your under eyes, you might actually notice some benefits. “Caffeine can help reduce puffiness and dark circles around the eyes, making you look more awake and refreshed,” the dermatologist shared.
Agreeing, Dr Rinky Kapoor, Consultant Dermatologist, Cosmetic Dermatologist and Dermato-Surgeon, The Esthetic Clinics, said that under-eye coffee patches help manage problems such as puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines. “However, it is better to speak to the doctor and then only use any product. Sometimes, these products may not suit you and cause adverse reactions, so it is better to check the product contents and only then use it. Avoid trying multiple products at the same time as it is not advisable. Be aware of what you are using,” she added.
LED masks: Another trend that is creating waves is the use of LED masks for skin. Commenting on the same, Dr Gupta said, “These futuristic-looking masks use LED lights to improve skin texture, reduce acne, and boost collagen production. They come in different colours for different skin concerns.”

Dr Kapoor added that these masks are known to give you healthy and glowing skin. “The masks can help in firming the skin, combat wrinkles, and give you a youthful appearance. These masks can be a solution for your various skin woes. The LED mask is known to fight many signs of ageing — from making the skin on and around the eyes look firm, toned, and more youthful.”
Tretinoin for hair regrowth: Tretinoin, which is a topical retinoid, is not only great for improving skin texture but also helps stimulate hair growth, Dr Gupta said. “Apply a small amount to your scalp to boost hair growth and thickness.”
Rosemary extracts hair sprays: She explained that rosemary helps stimulate hair growth and prevents hair loss by improving blood circulation on the scalp. “Rosemary is also great for soothing an itchy scalp and preventing dandruff,” the expert added.
Botox injection for masseter relief or stress relief: “Botox injections in the masseter muscles (the muscles used for chewing) can help relieve tension and reduce headaches caused by stress or teeth grinding,” Dr Gupta said.
