Now that fashion month has come to an end, it’s time to reminisce on the standout beauty looks from the Fall/Winter 2023 season. When it comes to the hair and makeup, this season’s shows gave us a myriad of trends to try. From whimsical hair bows to gothic-inspired lips, these trends offer something for everyone, regardless of what end of the style spectrum you fall on. Thankfully, unlike the clothes that came down the runway, you don’t have to wait to give these trends a road test. Ahead, the five best beauty trends from the fall fashion month.

Glimmers of silver and gold were spotted at several shows this season. At Thom Browne, models walked down the runway with gilded brows and gold stars across their faces. Over at Sandy Liang, silver metallic shadow was softly draped onto the inner corners and center of the lid for a reflective finish. And at Altuzarra, makeup artist Diane Kendal paired a strong smokey eye with a touch of gold shadow that lit up the models’ lids.

While fall and winter are usually associated with darker hues like burgundy or forest green, a few designers chose to go in the opposite direction and pair their runway pieces with electric color palettes. Pink was the color of choice at both Carolina Herrera and Victoria Beckham, with the former adorning the top lash line with the shade and the latter lining the bottom lashes. At Gucci, models came down the runway with splashes of soft color that included blues and reds.

At Prada, Anna Sui, and Chet Lo, drama came in the form of over-the-top lashes. For the Prada show, makeup artist Pat McGrath created custom-dyed lashes for the models to wear on the runway. McGrath was also behind the makeup look for Anna Sui where she covered both the top and bottom set of lashes with bright pink and bold green fringe for a high-octane effect. And at Chet Lo, while the lashes weren’t colorful, the elongated and mod-inspired lash extensions still made an impact.

Deep pouts took center stage this season. Rodarte’s noir lips added to the wistful ambiance of the show. At Sandy Liang and Balenciaga, the models wore different variations of a deep rouge color that punctuated the otherwise simple makeup looks.

Dior and Max Mara opted for black velvet ribbons to adorn their low ponytails with a romantic touch. For the Sandy Liang show, the bows came in the form of hair clips that were deliberately placed across the lengths of the models’ hair.
