Of the many things you can do to update your look for summer, changing your hair color is one of the simplest. And if you’ve been keeping up with the coolest celebrity hair changes of 2023, you know there are plenty of gorgeous options that’ll transform your hair this season.
This past year, it’s been all about red wine-colored locks and copper hues. Whether it was Lily James showing off her auburn hair at the Emmys or Kendall Jenner rocking a copper pony during Paris Fashion Week, red hair has been one of the most popular transformations for celebs, influencers, and all other fashionistas. Luckily, the trend isn’t going anywhere in 2023. But if red hues aren’t your thing, there are a few hair color trends you can try this year. According to Cynthia Romero, senior hair stylist at Dolce Salon Studios, “2023 is going to be all about subtle hair colors while making a statement.” So, check out these three hair colors that are perfect for summer 2023!
All About The Bayalage
Sure, you’ve probably heard of balayage hair, or maybe even tried it — but in 2023, it’s definitely one of the biggest hair trends, according to Romero. The customizable hair color technique involves creating a smooth transition between your colors of choice. There is a huge variety of colors used in the balayage technique, but this year is focused on the softer, natural hair shades. Of course, if you’re going for a pop of color, you can still use the balayage technique. Think Shay Mitchell’s red wine balayaged hair or Lizzo’s bright blue strands for reference.
Soft Blonde Blowouts
Soft blonde blowouts, inspired by Sydney Sweeney’s stunning look during the premiere of her film Reality, are definitely on my radar for trendy hair colors this summer. According to the actress’ hair stylist, the choice for a more muted tone of blonde was inspired by Sweeney embracing her natural hair color. So if you’ve been bombshell blonde for a while, now is the perfect time to switch it up and go for a more natural tone!
Strawberry Blonde
Torn between going blonde and going red? Then strawberry blonde is your answer. The hair color can come in many different shades, including light, medium, and dark red. Personally, I’m obsessed with medium shades like the one Ice Spice rocks, or lighter shades similar to Sydney’s Sweeney’s strawberry hue she wore for her role as Penny Jo in the crime thriller Americana.
